Why I Started Bridget Black (And the Promise I Made to Every Woman Who Uses It)

People ask me all the time why I started Bridget Black.
The honest answer is frustration.
I was a qualified chemist. I understood formulations. I could read an ingredient list and know exactly what was — and wasn't — in a product. And what I kept finding, over and over again, was that the skincare industry was charging extraordinary prices for products that were, frankly, not extraordinary.
Beautifully packaged? Often. Cleverly marketed? Absolutely. But genuinely, scientifically formulated to deliver real results for real skin? Far less often than women deserved.
I had friends — smart, informed, discerning women — spending hundreds of dollars on products that weren't working. Feeling defeated by their skin. Wondering if they were simply beyond help. And I knew, as a chemist, that the answer wasn't a more expensive product. It was a better one.
So I made one.
The first product I ever formulated was a Rejuvenating Serum
A close friend came to me in genuine distress about her skin. She'd tried the department store brands, the salon brands, the ones her dermatologist recommended. Nothing was giving her what she needed. She asked if I could help.
I went back to first principles. What does this skin actually need? What ingredients have genuine, peer-reviewed evidence behind them? How do I formulate them at concentrations that will actually work, in a base that will actually absorb?
She used it for six weeks and called me crying. Happy crying.
That phone call is the reason Bridget Black exists.
The promise
When I started this brand, I made myself a promise. Actually, I made it to every woman who would ever use my products, even though I didn't know them yet.
I promised that every formulation would be backed by real science — not trend ingredients, not marketing stories, but ingredients with genuine, documented evidence of efficacy.
I promised that every product would be clean and cruelty free — because what we put on our skin matters, and so does how it's made and who it affects along the way.
I promised that quality would never be sacrificed for margin — that Bridget Black would always be accessible to women who deserve luxury but live in the real world.
And I promised that I would never stop learning, never stop improving, and never stop listening to the women who use these products and tell me what their skin actually needs.
What Bridget Black is — and what it isn't
Bridget Black is not a miracle. I will never promise you that. Skin takes time, consistency and the right ingredients — and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling you something.
What Bridget Black is, is honest. Every ingredient is chosen deliberately. Every concentration is considered. Every product is something I would — and do — put on my own skin, and on the skin of the people I love most.
It is skincare made by a woman who understands the chemistry, who respects the customer, and who genuinely, deeply cares about the result.
